Jeff's farm update: Saying goodbye to summer and getting ready for fall

The end of August is fast approaching, and we must say goodbye to some of our students and teachers heading back to school. This year's weather made for some challenging conditions, and their hard work and humor were greatly appreciated. Our farm is fortunate to have some team members who remain with us through the fall season. They are the backbone of the farm, and we can't thank all of them enough for all that we and our customers ask of them. It's

fitting that our farm market will be closed on Labor Day, September 4, to give our team a well deserved break.

We will also be closed on Tuesday, September 5, so we can do deep cleaning and prepare for our fall season. We will re-open at 8 on Wednesday, September 6, and be open until December 31.

As we transition into the fall season, we are in search of some more dedicated people to join our team. We offer a friendly, family-like atmosphere that relies on a teamwork approach. The farm is a very diverse business, and we have needs in all areas. Anyone interested, please email us at info@moultonfarm.com, call us, or stop in and ask to speak with Jeff.

Besides our students and teachers leaving, other signs of the end of summer are around the farm. Our field crew is picking late summer tomatoes, melons, super sweet corn, and digging potatoes. Mums and other fall plants are starting to appear in our garden center. Our farm kitchen and bakery team are planning for your favorite fall foods in our farm market and our food truck. We're also getting our corn maze ready for opening in late September.

But before that, we still have the last days of summer to savor. When are you coming to visit?
