Jeff's farm update: Spectacular pumpkins, our corn maze, and baby goats

The autumn chill is in the air, and the feel of fall at the farm is in full swing. There is a pleasant aroma of apple pie and hot, simmering soup around here these days. The leaves are starting to change, and the mornings sure are a little chilly.

Last night, I strolled around the yard to check out what John called the best and widest array of colors in pumpkins he had ever seen. He sure is correct!

This year our harvest looks spectacular with the largest selection and widest color variation we have ever had. I counted over ten different varieties of pumpkins. The colors and varieties range from the smooth blueish-green of the Jarradale, the tan of the Long Island Cheese, the dark green of the Marina de Chiogga, the brilliantly colored Cinderella, and the wacky and warty Knucklehead pumpkin, to name a few.

Of course, we have plenty of traditional jack-o-lantern pumpkins. Choose from the ones we've already picked or venture into our "pick your own" pumpkin patch to hunt for yours.

Kyle and the field crew have done a tremendous job growing and showcasing the fruits of their labor. Between the pumpkins and our garden center, it's certainly looking like fall.

After passing one of the beautiful displays of pumpkins, I was greeted by some of the newest members of our farm crew…….goats!!! We have eight in total: four mama goats and their four little ones. They sure are cute but loud. They always seem to have something to say.

Oh, one more thing I forgot to mention, our corn maze!!!! After an absence for the past couple of years, ours is back and open. For our 20th corn maze, Wes included an antique tractor in the design that is tied to our farm's history. Click here to read

what Wes and John say about the design and the tractor. (Reading it might even help you with some of the answers to the trivia game that's part of our corn maze.)

We also have live music and wagon rides pulled by a tractor or horses on many weekend days. Visit our events page to see the dates and times. Come visit and enjoy our farm's food, color, and fun!
