John's Farm Update: A lot has been happening

With the first day of spring this week, work is well underway on the farm. Given the state of world events, the preparation of our farm market and planting in our greenhouses is a welcome distraction. We sincerely hope all of our farm's community of staff, customers, supporters, and families maintain good health through these difficult times.

Our team roster is developing nicely, with many experienced members returning and some new folks signing on as well!

It has been a busy winter! An older greenhouse has been reconfigured for our tomato growing. Kyle led the crew in filling that space with sturdy foot tall plants last week! Our hydroponic greenhouse has a lettuce crop ready for harvest. Field planting supplies are here and Wes has the equipment ready to head to our fields as soon as nature cooperates.

Maybe the most exciting news is the addition to our farm market! Jeff and the crew have been busy creating an improved checkout system and developing a new layout of the market. Sal’s Fresh Seafood now has a permanent home inside. Our farm kitchen and bakery crew are enjoying an enlarged work area. The first day our farm market will be open for the season is Thursday, March 19.

We look forward to seeing all of you and stay well!
