A summer update from John

As we progress through summer, I am pleased to report our crops are coming around nicely after the challenging spring season.  By the end of this month, our corn and tomato harvest should be underway, with some really good looking fields developing.

We are currently harvesting a variety of crops from our fields, including cucumbers, beets, leeks, broccoli, cabbage, greens, and a range of summer squash. Our peppers, which many of you enjoy, are also starting to come in.

We will be planting our last corn this week, hoping for a late frost, to have our fresh corn well into October.

As all of you gardeners know, our fields are very dependent on weather conditions. When some luck prevails, the overall harvest for our farm may work out to be at least good for the season. Thank you to all our customers and hardworking crew for keeping the farm working and sustainable.

So the bottom line is, we are really just beginning our heavy harvesting months with lots of fresh “veggies” making it to our farm market in the weeks to come.

Speaking of weeks to come, it’s hard to believe that many of our college students will be leaving in the next few weeks.  We’re looking for more team members for all areas of our farm.  If you’re interested or know of someone who might be, please visit our jobs page. We would love to have more team members!

Hope to see you all soon!

John
