Jeff's Farm Update: It's starting to look like Christmas!

A fresh blanket of snow in early December gets many of us in the festive spirit this holiday season. If you are ready to decorate, we have fraser and balsam fir Christmas trees waiting for you. These locally grown, freshly cut trees range in size from 2’ table toppers to 14’ grand ceiling trees.

It always amazes me the talent that we have here at the farm. The wreaths crafted by Sophie, Kay, and Alexis look amazing. Sue and Sandy have been tucked away in our warm poinsettia greenhouse decorating custom order wreaths, greenery, and gift baskets.

Speaking of poinsettias, have you been in our holiday greenhouse? It is filled with plants with deep reds, whites, and pinks that contrast wonderfully with that white blanket outside.

On the farming side of things, harvesting of our salad mix from our hydroponic system should continue throughout most of December. With most of our fields put to bed for the year, one of our last big projects is to cover our strawberry plants. We use straw as a protective blanket for the plants to prevent thawing and freezing throughout the winter.

In our farm market, it is the time of year to start stocking up for winter. Bulk butternut and acorn squash bags are available, as well as bags of potatoes. In addition to taking orders for foods for your holiday gatherings, we are also taking orders for frozen items from our farm kitchen and bakery including soups, our meat pies, and our turkey and chicken pot pies.

Come to the farm and see all that we have for you!
