John's Update: How has the weather affected us?

During the past few weeks, I have frequently been asked about the weather and how it has affected the farm.

Yes, it has been a wet and cold start to the season. Some things are indeed running a little behind this year, but the sun earlier this week had a tremendous impact on our crops, and they are responding beautifully. Our row covers keep our first plantings of sweet corn nice and warm and they are progressing well.

There is also more good news coming from our fields: Our strawberry crop has the potential to be quite strong. The plants look extremely healthy with many blossoms. With berries starting to form, we are only a couple of weeks away from harvest, and who doesn't love freshly picked strawberries on the 4th of July?

We are also currently harvesting our Moulton’s Salad Mix along with some very nice asparagus, Asian greens, baby kale and coming very soon spinach!

We’ve been busy in our fields transplanting the many vegetable plants we started in our greenhouses and our garden center team has been busy too. The garden center is full again with herbs, perennials, annuals, shrubs, and fruit trees. We continue to plant custom planters and hanging baskets as well.

Stop in and enjoy all that we’ve been doing!
