John's Farm Update

Our late spring field work is progressing, successive plantings of various crops are going in the ground and the crew is busy weeding and preparing for the rigors of strawberry and pea harvesting.

Soil moisture has been quite low in recent weeks, thus allowing easier tillage and warming of the soil but some irrigation and watering became necessary.

Early planted crops of squash and cucumbers are developing fruit and the row covers have been removed!

This past week we hosted a group of agricultural professionals from UNH Extension, State of NH Department of Agriculture including Commissioner Jasper and USDA officials. The farm team enjoyed meeting and showcasing the farm to these folks and sharing what we do at the farm.

Speaking of sharing, be sure to join us for our “Summer Kick-off” event on Saturday, June 23. We’re having a number of free events on that day that will showcase how to enjoy many of the foods we have for you.
